Scourge of the Internet
The critical splash page is coming along nicely, unsurprisingly I have some CSS issues to fix in (you all guessed it, the scourge of the internet) Internet Explorer! Yay! Apart from that it works very nicely. Will get that sorted as soon as I can then I will get it up on the net for you all to see.
Cheers Ben for the comments on this post, very kind of you if it does make you sound a little bit crazy, you made me laugh out loud at work though so its all good! I know I am a very lucky geek indeed.
I have been working with Actinic for quite a while now, it’s a pretty stable Perl based e-commerce software, and it is a mess. Well code wise at least, its rewarding to get it working, its one of a handful of big projects and I am doing it all myself. It’s a shame that it has a complete disregard for web standards. It’s enough to make a young web standards designer throw up!
I would like to stick Matt Brett’s site right in your face and tell you to check it out; it really is my favourite site at the moment. Excellent use of WordPress and nice hover styles on the paragraphs. Mmmmmm. Yeah it really is an awesome site, and a real inspiration I can’t wait to get going on my blog now, I think I will steal the dissection of his site thing, maybe writing a development diary as I build the site. Hopefully I can make a really useful blog site, I want to get myself on the map with it, get a bit of recognition from awards sites and what not. I think I can do it, hopefully I can get some support from you lot?
All I need now is a highlight colour; I have a nice looking style in my head. I hope I can make it work. I also decided to do my WordPress theme from the default style, rather than modding the current theme I have here, I figure it will be more rewarding.

Wow this is a nice busy blog.
Im impressed you’re building ecommerce sites fella, just goes to show how easy it is to be great when you’re working with a good mentor (not me… ;) ) but the guys at work.. Although… its a shame that Actinic only offer the software to winBLOWS.
Now, it appears that the software does have some consideration for accessibility though, so thats a good job by Actinic. Remember to keep in mind the accessibility rules when you’re designing and you’ll be a blind or deaf or just plaing stupid web user’s best friend.
