Pink for October

Things will be looking a little different around here for this month, I have gone Pink for October. I missed the fun last year, but luckily found a couple of spare hours to pink-ify the site, and I am pretty happy with the result. It was always the plan to release different colour versions of the site after launch and this seems like a brilliant cause and a great excuse for a fresh lick of paint.

No doubt there are probably people who have “gone pink” for much more profound reasons than I have but if seeing the site and reading this post helps to raise awareness by just a little bit then I think it’s worth it.

A Word on the Implementation

You know that CSS dream? The one where you build a website once, using CSS and semantic HTML, and from that point on you can re design the website without even having to touch the HTML? Yeah, thought you might. Well, I have never experienced it but this colour swap was almost as cool as that dream, a quick colour tweak in Photoshop, a handful of new images and some find and replace in TextMate and the pink theme was ready to roll.

    Good on ya buddy!

*wonders if Andy plans to have more colour versions loaded by JS based on the time of day or time elapsed since post date. Hmm…

I just stumbled upon your pinkified site today and I have to say it looks pretty darn good. I’ve seen some nice implementations for Pink For October, but this has to be one of the best ones yet. Nice work.
