Life Update
Well, its been a while since I got on here to ramble about life, as I used to in the old days, seems I have been writing marginally useful stuff all of a sudden, so it’s about time I spill some nothingness.
The other week I headed into London with Alida, destination the Tate Modern. Alida is a school friend who I have been very good mates with since primary school. 2 years ago she emigrated to New Zealand, but she has come back over to England for a little while. Was awesome to see her, and I couldn’t believe it had been 2 years, seemed more like 2 weeks! It was also a great day, I always enjoy going to the Tate Modern, gives me a lot of inspiration seeing all that amazing art in one place. Check out the flickr set to see what we got up to!
My DS Lite is still very fun, I picked up New Super Mario Bros. the day after it was released here in the UK, it truly is a real classic, I have been playing a bit here and there, have made it to the last world, but am yet to unlock the 2 secret worlds, or collect all the coins. Also I came across a great tutorial which shows you how to set up the DS Lite with a shared connection from a Mac. It was just what I needed, and I will hopefully get online soon to play a bit of Metroid Prime Hunters, it also means I am even more excited about the DS Browser.
The more sharp eyed amongst you (who am I kidding they are impossible to miss!) would of noticed the Google Ads which have turned up, hanging round the left side of my posts. I was strongly against putting ads on my site, but I think greed got the better of me. I can’t imagine they will stick around for long as I don’t think I will be seeing much of a return. I also signed up for Text Link Ads, though it seems my site is just not worth advertising on! As they are invisible until an ad is purchased I might as well leave the code on here for the moment.
Devlounge is a great little web design site, and I recently got the chance to post my article on Consistent List Markup over there, it’s a great honor to see my words on somewhere other than this blog, and I will hopefully publish more tutorials over there in the coming months. Devlounge V2 also bought with it a new community powered by the kick arse Vanilla, its pretty slow over there at the moment (I count 3 members) but I’m hoping it will flourish into a great place to go and talk web design.
It was only a matter of time before it happened, as its the hip thing to do at the moment, but I will be building a Ruby on Rails application. I’m not ready to discuss what it will be yet, as its really just a flickr (see what I did there? Yes I know its not built on rails!) in my mind. I’m hoping development will take about a month, which will include learning rails. I hope to release something (probably a beta, if I’m following all the trends) by the end of August, during the summer of rails.
Last, but by no means least, Sunday morning (at a ridiculous hour no doubt) I, along with Carrie, Laura, Chris, Tasha and Steven will be leaving for a weeks holiday in Devon. I think we will have an awesome time, we all get on pretty well and it should be a blast. That does of course mean that I will be “unhooked for a week! Let’s hope I can handl e it, that or find an internet cafe somewhere. So guys, see you all in a week or so! Have a good one.

I saw your work over at Devlounge. I’m also trying to add what I can, when I can, to A.J.’s lil’ lounge. I do have to say your site looks a lot nicer without the ads. But, I might be a lil’ biased—I write ads all day and the last place I’d put one is on my own site (well, if you don’t count the work area). Anyway, looking forward to seeing Rails app.
