Introducing: carrieannaldridge.com

Christmas is almost upon us, a time to relax, spend time with friends and family and just generally have a good time. It has been pretty quiet around here for a while, but I have one last thing to announce before I kick back and wait for 2007 to arrive.

Carries Website

Carrie’s new website is now live. It is a simple blog built on the mighty Wordpress. It’s taken me a little over two weeks to develop (roughly) which has been great fun as I always enjoy working with Wordpress.

The design is clean and simple, with a colour scheme which Carrie really wanted. I personally find light on dark sites more difficult to read than the opposite but I have done my best to keep the site readable, if you have any problems please let me know.

Technically, the site is based on Bryan Veloso’s Chaotic Soul. I wanted to build from an existing template as I knew it would ease development and let me get a working version up in the least amount of time. I don’t think there is much of Bryan’s mark-up left now as I pulled it about to my own personal tastes, I also rewrote all of the CSS.

I used a couple of plug-ins for this project, namely: a modified Customisable Post Listings plug-in for the archives page and the classic flickrRSS for showing Carrie’s latest photos.

The site structure is kept simple and to the point, Carrie wanted one single post on the home page so the user can easily access the latest information and then a list of all the previous posts on the archives page so any post can be accessed instantly. Though showing all the posts on one page might not be the best method of organising posts once Carrie amasses a few of them, we will cross that bridge when we come to it.

Please let me know what you think of the site or if you find anything a little bit dodgy.

With all that said, I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! I’m going to forget doing a 2006 round up post in favour of a 2007 looking forward post, onwards and upwards!

See you all next year.
